Pedestrian Bridge Provides New Connection into Downtown Denver
We just received word earlier today that the Union Gateway Bridge will officially open tomorrow – Friday, March 5th! This new connection will add a second option (the other being the Millenium Bridge) for individuals looking to walk into the the Denver Union Station/LoDo neighborhood from the Riverfront Park or Commons Park areas.
Currently, the Union Gateway Bridge drops pedestrians into the midst of Denver Union Station related construction efforts but in a few years, this bridge will be an incredibly useful connection for pedestrians looking to walk into the heart of the Transit District and will provide very convenient connections to the new light rail station and regional bus service in the “bus box.”
For now, I imagine that one of the first major uses for the bridge will be on April 9th as a sea of pedestrians try to make their way to Coors Field for the Rockies’ Opening Day festivities. Can’t wait!
